Ear Cropping Concerns Flagged to Warner Bros

A joint open letter has been issued to Warner Bros, due to the release of their new animated children’s film, DC League of Super-Pets, which includes an animated dog with ears that looked cropped.

Members of the Veterinary Animal Welfare Coalition, the FOAL Group and The Kennel Club have written to Warner Bros. to share their disappointment for including the dog, which is part of a film aimed at young children.

There are concerns that the film and its transatlantic publicity campaign, including toys and merchandise of the dog, could potentially fuel the trend for dogs with cropped ears.

There has been long raised concerns about this illegal trend, with BVA and other veterinary and animal welfare organisations getting behind the #CutTheCrop campaign.

You can read the joint open letter here.

The Veterinary Animal Welfare Coalition was established to increase public awareness of the five welfare needs of animals, as laid out in the UK Animal Welfare Acts. It includes representatives from veterinary organisations and charities that deliver veterinary services: BVA, the British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA), the British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA), the British Veterinary Zoological Society (BVZS), RSPCA, SSPCA, PDSA, and Blue Cross.
