In January 2022, the PSS team temporarily returned to remote practice assessments after several months of carrying out in-person assessments. This change was brought in as a temporary measure in response to the Government’s Plan B Covid-19 restrictions which included working from home where possible.
This decision was reviewed in early January to enable practices and assessors sufficient time to plan for assessments. Remote assessments were originally due to be in place until 28 January 2022, but with the Plan B restrictions still remaining in the New Year, this was later extended to 28 February 2022 to provide sufficient notice of the change in assessment format to practices with assessments due.
With the lifting of Plan B restrictions effective from 27 January 2022, it has been decided that the temporary remote assessment measures will end on 28 February, and we will return to in-person PSS assessments from 1 March.
Practices due assessments in March have already been contacted by the PSS team with details of how to prepare for an in-person assessment and should therefore continue to prepare in the same way. They will be contacted by a PSS Assessor shortly to arrange the assessment date.
We understand that the change of assessment format brought about by the temporary return to remote assessments in response to the UK Governments’ guidance on coronavirus has been disruptive to practices preparing for their assessments at an already challenging time. We thank you once again for your support with ensuring that PSS assessments have been able to continue whilst protecting the safety of your teams and the PSS Assessors.
The PSS team are looking forward to resuming in-person assessments again and getting to see the great work that accredited practices are doing up and down the country.
