Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Equine Veterinary surgeon who enjoys the freedom of ambulatory work but with the availability of a clinic to bring cases in for further workup and in-patient care. Their work is mainly ambulatory and mostly within a 30-minute drive from the practice. The majority of horses they see are leisure/competition horses with an increasing geriatric population (and a few donkeys!) All their owners appreciate a practice that is happy to discuss every treatment option.
About the Role:
Their flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours truly tips the scale on your work life balance. They know that everyone has demands and priorities outside of their career and they want to make it brilliantly easy for you to strike the right balance. Whether you are looking to fix or flex your work patterns, they can find the right solution for you
The rota involves working 3-5 days, 25-42 hours per week. The normal working hours are from 8:30am-6:00pm Monday- Friday with a 1 in 5 weekend rota and 1 in 5 nights. You are on call from home and phone calls are taken by a receptionist.
About the Practice:
They are a long established and busy first opinion equine and small animal practice with a varied caseload. They are renowned for their supportive culture, collaborative approach and for having a close-knit team.
Their location in Hertfordshire gives the ideal mix of countryside and proximity to London, with good rail links, major roads and airports. They allow dogs to come to work and there are plenty of open fields and woodlands to explore.
They have all the usual equipment which is fully mobile. They joined IVC Evidensia in 2021 and benefit from a close working relationship with a neighbouring practice allowing for further equipment and facility sharing.
They have a team of 10 Veterinary Surgeons (7 Small Animal and 3 Equine), 7 Small Animal Nurses plus Student Nurses. They are supported by 2 Reception/office staff and a Technician. Their neighbouring practice who we work closely with is BEVA accredited for stud work and has an equine clinic with inpatient facilities and an operating theatre. Visiting surgeons come in to carry out specialist procedures.
