Job Description

Our client is a proudly independent small animal practice, and they’re excited to welcome a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to the team for maternity cover this autumn. For over 11 years, they have built a reputation for putting people and patients first. Owned entirely by their Head Vet, they remain independent, with modern facilities, a supportive team, and a shared love for the animals they care for.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, close-knit, and genuinely caring team. The successful candidate will work alongside 6 vets, 6 RVNs, and a wider 24-person practice, contributing to a modern environment where gold-standard care is at the heart of everything they do. Whether covering maternity or looking for a permanent role, candidates will have the chance to develop their skills, enjoy excellent CPD support, and work with state-of-the-art equipment.

Responsibilities

As part of the RVN team, the successful candidate will:

  • Deliver excellent clinical care across the practices
  • Assist with surgeries, inpatient care, and diagnostics using advanced equipment
  • Support and guide clients with empathy and clear communication
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain the highest standards of care
  • Contribute to a positive, supportive, and pet-first culture

Requirements

They are looking for someone who is:

  • A qualified RVN, confident in both clinical and client-facing duties
  • Enthusiastic, team-oriented, and committed to excellent patient care
  • Flexible to cover Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (with part-time or full-time options available)
  • Keen to learn, grow, and make the most of CPD opportunities

Benefits

  • Competitive pay of up to £14.18/hr
  • £1000 pro-rata CPD allowance for RVNs, including travel and accommodation
  • Option of maternity cover from December or a permanent contract starting earlier
  • Be part of a supportive 24-person practice with no out-of-hours work
  • Access to modern facilities including digital X-ray, colour Doppler ultrasound, multiparameter monitors with capnography and NIBP, digital tonometry, a dedicated operating theatre, and laparoscopic spays
  • Saturdays only 1 in 4 (currently closer to 1 in 6)

If you are looking for a role where your skills are valued, your development is supported, and your wellbeing truly matters, our client would love to hear from you.
