Job Description

Our client, a prominent veterinary care provider, is seeking a Head Registered Veterinary Nurse for their 24-hour hospital. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to lead and develop a team while delivering high-quality veterinary care.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Branch Partner and Practice Manager to manage and develop the clinical team and practice operations. This position involves all aspects of nursing, providing clinical leadership, and supporting the development of student nurses. The role also offers the chance to contribute to the advancement of practice standards and the overall growth of the team.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and support to the nursing team.
  • Deliver exceptional care to patients and clients.
  • Assist with surgeries and procedures, overseeing all pre- and post-procedure activities.
  • Lead and manage nurse-led appointments and Schedule 3 surgeries.
  • Monitor and care for patients throughout their treatment.
  • Manage admissions and discharges as directed by the veterinary team.
  • Oversee patient transfers to out-of-hours or enhanced care.
  • Dispense and verify medication.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, practice, and operational standards.
  • Inspire and motivate the team, sharing new or evolving practice standards.
  • Engage in coaching and developing team members.
  • Promote and share clinical best practices across the wider community.

 

Requirements

  • RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse.
  • Proven experience in delivering exceptional patient and client care.
  • Ability to lead and manage a clinical team effectively.
  • Experience in fostering a progressive clinical culture through nurse clinics and consultations.
  • Strong coaching and influencing skills to enhance team performance.
