Job Description

Our client is seeking a Head Veterinary Nurse to join a practice. This role is ideal for a Registered Veterinary Nurse with prior experience in a small animal practice.

The successful candidate will engage in all aspects of nursing and oversee the daily operations of the practice. They will have the opportunity to develop nursing clinics, introduce new ideas, share best practices, and support and mentor student nurses. This position offers increased responsibilities with the full support of an experienced team of vets and nurses.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership to the nursing team.
  • Consistently deliver exceptional care to clients.
  • Support surgeries and procedures, managing all pre- and post-procedure activities.
  • Lead and manage nurse-led appointments and Schedule 3 surgeries.
  • Monitor and care for patients.
  • Manage patient admissions and discharges as directed by the veterinary team.
  • Oversee patient transfers to out-of-hours or enhanced care.
  • Dispense and verify medications.
  • Uphold professional excellence by complying with all regulatory, practice, and operational standards.
  • Inspire, coach, and develop your team.
  • Promote clinical best practices within the practice and the broader community.

Requirements

  • RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse.
  • Proven experience in delivering exceptional patient and client care.
  • Ability to lead a clinical team with confidence.
  • Experience in fostering a progressive clinical culture through nurse clinics and consultations.
  • Proficient in using coaching and influencing skills to optimise team performance.
