Are you a natural leader ready to advance your career? A dynamic practice is seeking a Head Veterinary Nurse to join their team. The practice offers a range of services, including laparoscopic/key-hole surgery, advanced soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries, and features a fully equipped in-house lab, ultrasound scanning, and a dental surgery with digital dental x-ray capabilities.

As the Head Veterinary Nurse, the successful candidate will be an integral part of the team, working alongside an experienced Lead Veterinary Surgeon and collaborating with the Practice Manager and a dedicated team of registered nurses, student nurses, a patient care assistant, and client care assistants. This role will provide an opportunity to contribute to the development of clinical practices and enhance patient care.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership to the nursing team
  • Deliver exceptional care to clients and patients
  • Support surgeries and procedures, including pre- and post-operative activities
  • Manage and promote nurse-led appointments and Schedule 3 surgeries
  • Oversee patient monitoring, admissions, and discharges
  • Handle patient transfers and medication management
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and operational standards
  • Inspire, coach, and develop the nursing team
  • Share and implement clinical best practices across the practice

 

Requirements

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Proven experience in delivering exceptional patient and client care
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead a clinical team
  • Experience in developing and implementing clinical practices
  • Skilled in coaching and influencing colleagues
