Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head Veterinary Nurse at a specialist veterinary hospital. They offer specialist-led orthopaedic, neurology, and soft tissue surgical referrals with on-site CT, MRI, radiography, lab, and arthroscopy.

The successful candidate will join a dedicated team of veterinary professionals. You will work closely with the surgical team and support staff, contributing to advanced veterinary procedures and providing exceptional care. This role offers the chance to develop leadership skills and make a significant impact on both patient and client experiences.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage the surgery daily list, incorporating emergencies where necessary.
  • Provide clinical leadership to the nursing team.
  • Consistently deliver exceptional care to clients.
  • Support with surgeries and procedures, completing all pre- and post-procedure activities.
  • Deliver patient monitoring and care.
  • Manage admissions and discharges as directed by the veterinary team.
  • Dispense and check medication.
  • Deliver professional excellence, implementing and complying with all regulatory, practice, and operational standards.
  • Inspire the team, sharing new or evolving practice standards and changes to processes.
  • Engage, coach, and develop the team.

 

Requirements

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse.
  • Previous experience as a senior or head nurse essential.
  • Experience in referral work is desirable.
  • Proven experience of delivering exceptional patient and client care.
  • Ability to confidently lead a clinical team.
  • Skilled in coaching and influencing to get the best out of every colleague.
