Our client has an exciting opportunity for a veterinary surgeon to join their team as a Lead Veterinary Surgeon. This is a permanent, full-time role, working 40 hours over four days per week with no weekends required. Part-time applications are welcome, and flexibility can be offered depending on your preferences.

The successful candidate will join a well-equipped, small-town practice with an established support team that enjoys working together. The team has built strong relationships with a loyal client base, providing an excellent opportunity for a veterinary surgeon looking to advance their career.

 

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver exceptional clinical care during consultations and procedures.
  • Provide clear and compassionate updates to clients regarding their pets.
  • Uphold the highest standards of regulatory, practice, and operational compliance.
  • Prepare accurate estimates for clients, ensuring payment and minimising debt.
  • Collaborate closely with the Practice Manager to maximise commercial performance, focusing on key measures.
  • Mentor and develop your team, enhancing their skills and utilising them effectively.
  • Inspire the team by sharing new or evolving practice standards and changes to processes.
  • Ensure smooth clinical handover and arrange transfers for any patients needing out-of-hours or enhanced care.
  • Proactively share and support clinical best practices within and across practices.

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Surgeon with the RCVS.
  • Demonstrable clinical leadership skills.
  • Experience in delivering exceptional care to patients and clients.
  • Understanding of how exceptional care enhances the client experience.
  • Experience in fostering a progressive clinical culture.
  • Proven ability to deliver strong commercial performance through effective clinical activity allocation.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience in using coaching and influencing skills to maximise team potential.
