Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join their practice. This role offers the unique opportunity to develop your clinical interests in a flexible environment, with a competitive salary of up to £80,000. The successful candidate will join a locally owned practice, where clinical decisions are made by the team, without corporate constraints. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a progressive and supportive practice that prioritises both patient care and team well-being.

As the Lead Veterinary Surgeon, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a highly skilled team of 6 vets, 10 RVNs, 6 SVNs, and a dedicated reception team. They will play a key role in shaping the clinical offering, with a surgical bias that could see them spending up to 3 days in surgery each week. Our client encourages clinical freedom, providing a varied caseload and opportunities to expand skills.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the clinical team, focusing on surgical procedures
  • Contribute to regular vet meetings to discuss cases and review protocols
  • Maintain high standards of patient care with the support of an experienced team
  • Participate in a 1:4 Saturday rota (with occasional sole charge)
  • Ensure excellent client communication and service
  • Help foster a supportive and collaborative working environment

 

Requirements

  • A minimum of 4 years post-graduation experience with a surgical bias
  • Strong leadership and team collaboration skills
  • Flexibility in terms of working hours; options such as school hours or long/short days can be arranged
  • Passion for continuous professional development (CPD) and a desire to contribute to a progressive practice
