Job Description

They are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly team. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a leadership role within a thriving, community-focused practice.
As the Lead Veterinary Surgeon, you will play a crucial role in shaping the clinical direction of the practice. You will work alongside a skilled team, including an RVN and CCA, and have access to excellent facilities, including a theatre, two consulting rooms, dental equipment, and ultrasound. This role offers autonomy, leadership opportunities, and the chance to make a meaningful impact on patient care and team development.
The role is full-time (40 hours per week), including 1 in 3 Saturdays or 1 in 6 weekends.
Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional clinical care during consultations and procedures.
- Provide clear and compassionate updates to clients regarding their pets’ health.
- Maintain the highest standards of regulatory, practice, and operational compliance.
- Develop tailored treatment and care plans with transparent cost estimates.
- Lead, mentor, and support the team, enhancing their skills and effectiveness.
- Manage clinical handovers and coordinate out-of-hours or enhanced care when necessary.
- Share clinical best practices within the practice and the wider veterinary community.
Requirements
- RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in UK small animal practice.
- Strong clinical and patient care skills.
- Proven experience in team collaboration and leadership.
- Ability to foster a progressive clinical culture.
- Experience in supporting nurse consults and Schedule 3 procedures.
- Strong coaching and influencing skills to empower colleagues.
