They are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly team. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a leadership role within a thriving, community-focused practice.

As the Lead Veterinary Surgeon, you will play a crucial role in shaping the clinical direction of the practice. You will work alongside a skilled team, including an RVN and CCA, and have access to excellent facilities, including a theatre, two consulting rooms, dental equipment, and ultrasound. This role offers autonomy, leadership opportunities, and the chance to make a meaningful impact on patient care and team development.

The role is full-time (40 hours per week), including 1 in 3 Saturdays or 1 in 6 weekends.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional clinical care during consultations and procedures.
• Provide clear and compassionate updates to clients regarding their pets’ health.
• Maintain the highest standards of regulatory, practice, and operational compliance.
• Develop tailored treatment and care plans with transparent cost estimates.
• Lead, mentor, and support the team, enhancing their skills and effectiveness.
• Manage clinical handovers and coordinate out-of-hours or enhanced care when necessary.
• Share clinical best practices within the practice and the wider veterinary community.

Requirements

• RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in UK small animal practice.
• Strong clinical and patient care skills.
• Proven experience in team collaboration and leadership.
• Ability to foster a progressive clinical culture.
• Experience in supporting nurse consults and Schedule 3 procedures.
• Strong coaching and influencing skills to empower colleagues.
