Job Description
Our client is a leading provider of veterinary care across the UK, with practices that include 24-hour veterinary centres and referral centres, as well as a growing presence overseas. They are currently looking for a dedicated Veterinary Nurse to join their night team, combining a passion for emergency and critical care with the opportunity for extensive free time. The role offers an ideal work-life balance, with a rota pattern of 7 nights on, followed by 14 nights off.
As part of the night team, you will work alongside an experienced Night Vet to provide exceptional out-of-hours care to patients. The hospital is modern and well-equipped, offering a supportive and friendly environment. You will have the opportunity to work with advanced facilities, including complex ultrasound, a laparoscopic stack system, endoscopy, a full in-house lab, separate dog and cat wards, an isolation area, and two operating theatres.
Responsibilities
- Consistently deliver exceptional care to clients.
- Assist with surgeries and procedures, managing all pre- and post-procedure activities.
- Conduct nurse-led appointments and Schedule 3 activities.
- Monitor and care for patients throughout their stay.
- Manage patient admissions and discharges as directed by the veterinary team.
- Facilitate patient transfers to out-of-hours or enhanced care.
- Dispense and verify medications.
- Ensure professional excellence by complying with all regulatory, practice, and operational standards.
- Hold briefings to coordinate and engage the team for effective practice operations.
Requirements
- RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse.
- Experience in delivering high-quality patient and client care.
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Experience in supporting nurse consults and understanding their contribution to practice performance and efficiency.
- Strong coaching and influencing skills to maximise team performance.
