What would you do with your time if for every 5 days you worked, you had 5 days off? Our client is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Nurse to join their night team at a state-of-the-art 24-hour hospital. The practice has recently been refurbished and is equipped with the latest technology, including digital and dental x-rays, ultrasound, endoscopy, a tonometer, and orthopaedic equipment.

The successful candidate will work alongside a Night Vet and a Veterinary Care Assistant, providing high-quality care during night shifts. This role is a 12-month position to cover maternity leave. The rota consists of 5 days on and 5 days off, with working hours from 7 pm to 9 am. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a well-equipped practice and gain experience in a supportive environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional clinical care: Provide outstanding care to patients during night shifts, including monitoring and treatment.
  • Support surgeries and procedures: Assist with pre- and post-procedure activities as required.
  • Nurse-led appointments: Conduct nurse-led consultations and manage scheduled activities.
  • Patient care and monitoring: Maintain high standards of patient care, including overseeing admissions and discharges.
  • Medication management: Dispense and verify medications as prescribed by the veterinary team.
  • Team coordination: Conduct briefings to engage and coordinate the team for effective practice operations.
  • Professional excellence: Adhere to all regulatory, practice, and operational standards.

 

Requirements

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse: Qualified and registered with the RCVS.
  • Experience in patient and client care: Proven ability to deliver exceptional care to both patients and clients.
  • Team player: Capable of working effectively as part of a team.
  • Consultation skills: Experience in conducting nurse consults and understanding their contribution to practice efficiency.
  • Coaching and influencing skills: Ability to coach and influence colleagues to achieve the best outcomes.
