Night Registered Veterinary Nurse

Job Description

Our client, a leading provider of veterinary care, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join their Out of Hours (OOHs) night team. This role is ideal for a compassionate individual who excels in inpatient care and emergency situations. The position follows a 7-night on, 14-night off rota, working alongside a Student Veterinary Nurse (SVN) and an on-call veterinarian.

The successful candidate will join a committed night team in a modern, purpose-built veterinary hospital that offers a wide range of services, including first opinion and referral cases in orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, ophthalmology, internal medicine, and diagnostic imaging (CT and MRI). They will provide exceptional care to patients, contribute to various clinical procedures, and help maintain the high standards of the practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional care to patients during the night shift.
• Assist with surgeries and procedures, including pre- and post-operative care.
• Conduct nurse-led appointments and Schedule 3 activities.
• Monitor and care for inpatients.
• Manage patient admissions and discharges in coordination with the veterinary team.
• Oversee patient transfers to out-of-hours or enhanced care as needed.
• Dispense and check medications.
• Uphold professional excellence and comply with all regulatory, practice, and operational standards.
• Facilitate team briefings to ensure the smooth running of the practice.

Requirements

• RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse.
• Experience in providing exceptional care to both patients and clients.
• Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Experience in supporting nurse consultations and understanding their impact on practice performance and efficiency.
• Strong coaching and influencing skills to support team development.
