Job Description

A leading provider of veterinary care is seeking a skilled veterinary nurse to join their team on an eight-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a spacious and well-equipped practice that values teamwork and exceptional care.

The successful candidate will join a team of dedicated veterinary professionals, including vets, a practice manager, and a strong, organised nursing team committed to delivering outstanding patient care. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with the veterinary team, support surgeries and procedures, and lead nurse consultations. Both full-time and part-time applications are welcome, with flexible working arrangements available.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consistently deliver exceptional care to clients and their pets.
  • Assist with surgeries and procedures, including all pre- and post-operative activities.
  • Conduct nurse-led appointments and Schedule 3 activities.
  • Monitor patients and provide high-quality care.
  • Manage patient admissions, discharges, and transfers to out-of-hours or enhanced care services.
  • Dispense and check medications, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain professional excellence by adhering to regulatory, practice, and operational standards.
  • Engage and coordinate with the team to support the efficient running of the practice.

 

Requirements:

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse (RCVS).
  • Proven experience in delivering exceptional patient and client care.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience in supporting nurse consultations, with an understanding of how this contributes to practice performance and efficiency.
  • Strong coaching and influencing skills to bring out the best in colleagues.

About the Role:

This full-time role involves working 40 hours per week over five days, with a 1:3 half-weekend rota. Part-time applications are also welcome, and flexibility is available to accommodate individual needs.
