Job Description

Are you looking for a supportive team, career development, and a great work-life balance?

Our client is looking for an enthusiastic RVN to join their award-winning team. Their experienced team of vets, RVNs, ACAs, and receptionists were delighted to be named ‘Veterinary Practice of the Year 2024’ at the Local Pet Awards Ireland, a true testament to their dedication to providing excellent care.

About Our Client

It all started back in 1980 when a vet bought the practice. Following in their footsteps, their children chose careers in veterinary medicine, and in 2003, the reins were passed to the next generation. Fast forward to today, and the family practice has grown to include state-of-the-art clinics across multiple locations, with an exceptional team of nearly 300 people. One thing has always remained the same: the belief that if the best care is desired for patients, the best care must be provided for the team.

Our client’s mission is to make lives better through excellence in veterinary care. They are committed to continually improving services through innovation, utilising the latest monitoring and diagnostic technology, and fostering a supportive work environment where the team can thrive both personally and professionally.

They offer certificate-led internal referral services, with highly skilled vets and nurses specialising in various fields, including exotics, orthopaedics, cardiology, dentistry, oncology, medicine, advanced soft tissue surgery, and endoscopy, with dermatology services launching soon.

The Future

They were pioneers in introducing dental X-rays as a standard practice. They continue leading the way with exciting advancements, including launching laparoscopy services, new CT machines arriving, and opening their first Diplomat-led Tertiary Referral Hospital.

Additionally, they are expanding nationwide, with new clinics joining their growing network. They also have dedicated cat-only clinics, complemented by additional clinics that have achieved ISFM Cat-Friendly status, with more certifications planned.

The Role

They are looking for an experienced RVN to join the team. They want you to reach your full potential and have job satisfaction, so you will be encouraged to use all your skills and get involved in all aspects of nursing, from inpatient care, radiography, and anaesthesia to extensive nurse clinics.

You will have access to dedicated nurse mentors within the wider team, who can provide ongoing support and guidance to help you develop your skills. There are also opportunities to progress into speciality nurse positions in areas such as orthopaedics, dentistry, dermatology, cardiology, feline care, and exotics, as well as hospital and head nurse positions.

Nurses work a 40-hour week, with just 1:4 Saturdays and 1:12 daytime weekends. There are no out-of-hours or on-call duties.

Career Development

Our client is passionate about nurturing their teams and helping each member achieve their ambitions through enhancing their knowledge, developing skills, pursuing further training, including certificates, or finding an ideal work-life balance.

They were the first independent practice in Ireland to launch both a Head Nurse training programme and a New Graduate programme, ensuring that less experienced team members receive unparalleled support and encouragement. They also provide a comprehensive in-house CPD programme, certificate training, and opportunities for further education to ensure every team member has the tools to excel.

Culture and Well-Being

A positive team culture is essential, and that’s why they prioritise mental health and well-being through various initiatives, including providing quarterly social budgets for each clinic to fund fun activities outside of work. They also gather the whole team to celebrate big occasions, such as the Christmas party, which includes a festive evening of dinner, drinks, and dancing, complete with a band and DJ.

They offer:

  • A salary of €30,000 – €38,000
  • CPD encouraged, with certificates supported and funded, including additional days if needed
  • In-house training
  • 5.6 weeks holiday, including bank holidays
  • Holiday increases with length of service
  • Professional fees paid for VCI and VDS
  • Open to offering sabbaticals after two years of service
  • Gym contributions, health plan, and cycle-to-work scheme
  • On-site parking
