Job Description

Our client is an independent, forward-thinking veterinary practice founded by two experienced vets. They are passionate about delivering exceptional care to pets and their people. As the practice continues to grow, they are preparing to open a brand-new Hospital and Rehab Centre-and are now looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join their friendly and supportive team.

This is a unique opportunity to be involved from the ground up. The successful candidate will join a collaborative and progressive team that values innovation, compassion, and professional development. They will contribute to the development of new services in a fully equipped hospital featuring two theatres, an advanced imaging suite, and a purpose-built rehab centre offering hydrotherapy and physiotherapy. The role offers real influence over daily responsibilities and the future direction of the practice.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on inpatient care and monitor post-operative recovery
  • Manage anaesthesia and support surgical procedures
  • Run nurse-led consultations and clinics
  • Assist with the setup and delivery of rehabilitation services
  • Take part in a shared, supportive out-of-hours rota (1 in 4)
  • Contribute to the development of clinical protocols and service improvements
  • Support student nurses or colleagues through mentoring, if desired

Requirements

Our client is looking for a qualified RVN who is:

  • Confident in all aspects of nursing, including inpatient care and anaesthesia
  • Enthusiastic about working within a close-knit, growing team
  • Keen to pursue further training or certification (which will be fully supported)
  • Comfortable with a fair and manageable out-of-hours commitment
  • Aligned with Fear-Free principles (training can be provided)
  • A proactive team player who enjoys variety and patient-centred care

Benefits

Our client offers a supportive and enriching environment with a strong focus on wellbeing and development, including:

  • A salary of £28,000–£34,000, depending on experience
  • 5.6 weeks’ holiday, including bank holidays
  • Uncapped CPD budget – certificates supported and funded
  • RCVS and VDS fees paid
  • Bupa private healthcare
  • A 4-day working week (8–6 or 9–7 shifts)
  • One night per week and one weekend in four on-call
  • Low-volume out-of-hours work – often advice only, with home call-outs when needed
  • Opportunities to follow individual clinical interests and help shape services
  • A friendly, inclusive team that genuinely enjoys working together

Outside of Work

The team regularly enjoys social activities-from pub catch-ups and dog walks to festive events. A strong work-life balance and a culture of support, respect, and inclusion are central to how the team operates.
