Job Description

An independent specialist referral centre is launching a new ophthalmology service and is seeking a passionate and experienced RVN to join its founding team. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a brand-new service, collaborate with a supportive team, and deliver outstanding patient care in a specialist setting.

The successful candidate will join a welcoming, collaborative clinical team and will be actively involved in shaping the development of the new specialist ophthalmology service. This role offers excellent scope for progression, enabling the RVN to develop advanced skills in referral nursing, participate in service planning, and grow professionally in an inclusive environment where their ideas are genuinely valued.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality nursing care to ophthalmology, medical, surgical, and high‑dependency patients
• Assist with clinical procedures, ensuring patient welfare at all times
• Support the establishment and implementation of nursing protocols for the new centre
• Collaborate closely with veterinary surgeons and the wider clinical team
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, and clinical best practice

Requirements

• RVN-qualified, with relevant clinical experience
• Strong communication, organisational, and teamwork skills
• A passion for learning and developing within a referral environment
• Compassionate and detail-oriented approach to patient care
• Previous referral nursing experience is desirable but not essential
