Job Description

Our client is looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their team in Holmes Chapel! They are a purpose-built practice based in the village of Holmes Chapel in rural Cheshire. They are close to the peak district, one mile from Junction 18 of the M6. screens puppy & kitten clinics.

About the Role:

Your day-to-day duties will include assisting in theatre with surgical procedures including exotic & Laproscopy, dental procedures, diagnostic procedures including X-Ray, ultrasound & Endoscopy, in-Patient care-medicating, monitoring & exercising. nurse appointments- 2nd vaccinations, post op checks, repeat injections, dressings. They also run weight clinics, wellness screens puppy & kitten clinics.

They have a team of supportive Registered Veterinary Nurses with lots of experience working in referral hospitals and with exotic qualifications. The role would suit a newly qualified Nurse who wanted to build on their skills within a supportive team or an experienced Nurse wanting a change of environment and a new challenge.

The successful candidate will work across the clinical team but be able to concentrate on any area that interests them. They encourage schedule 3 procedures.

Their nurses work either a four or five days per week based on their preference and what fits their lifestyle better. They are open on a Saturday morning 8.30-1pm and their rota is currently one in five. The out of hours work is covered by Vets Now but they occasionally keep the odd in-patient in overnight which may require a late check.

Currently they have 5.5 Veterinary Surgeons, 6 Registered Veterinary Nurses and 1 Student Veterinary Nurse. They have a Vet with a Certificate in Dermatology so work up skin cases well and a Vet with a keen interest in Felines.

They also do exotic referrals. They have 2 Exotic Veterinary Surgeons, one of which has a certificate. They see a lot of small mammals, birds, and reptiles as well as cats and dogs.
