Job Description

Our client is offering a fantastic opportunity for a full-time Veterinary Nurse to join their team on a 12-month maternity cover. This role is based in a beautiful location, making it ideal for those who enjoy the outdoors, water sports, and dog walking.

The successful candidate will become part of an established team that includes veterinary surgeons with special interests and certifications in areas such as small animal surgery, dentistry, and diagnostic imaging. The team also comprises full-time nurses, a part-time head nurse, and student nurses. The practice offers a wide range of services, including consults, laser therapy, and advanced diagnostics, in a modern and well-equipped facility.

 

Responsibilities

  • Consistently deliver exceptional care to clients.
  • Assist with surgeries and procedures, handling all pre- and post-operative activities.
  • Conduct nurse-led appointments and Schedule 3 activities.
  • Provide patient monitoring and care.
  • Manage admissions and discharges as directed by the veterinary team.
  • Complete patient transfers for out-of-hours or enhanced care.
  • Dispense and check medication.
  • Maintain professional excellence by complying with all regulatory, practice, and operational standards.
  • Hold briefings to engage and coordinate the team for effective practice operations.

 

Requirements

  • Registered with the RCVS as a Veterinary Nurse.
  • Experience in delivering exceptional patient and client care.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience in supporting nurse consults, with an understanding of how this contributes to practice performance and efficiency.
  • Skilled in using coaching and influencing techniques to get the best out of every colleague.
