Job Description

Our client is an independent, family-owned small animal practice looking for a fourth vet to join their supportive and friendly team. Being independent gives them the freedom to choose their suppliers, the medicines they stock, and how they care for their patients, creating an environment where both clients and colleagues feel valued.

As their new vet, you will become part of a close-knit team that thrives on collaboration and shared learning. You will work alongside experienced vets, RVNs, and supportive reception and administrative staff. You will handle a varied small animal caseload, with opportunities to develop your clinical interests, whether that is in general practice or working towards a certificate. Your voice will be heard through regular team meetings, where ideas are shared and improvements are made together.

Responsibilities

The role will include:

  • Carrying out consultations and routine surgeries
  • Providing empathetic support and guidance to clients
  • Managing a varied caseload with the support of colleagues
  • Allowing time for case follow-ups, calls, and administration
  • Taking part in team meetings and shared decision-making
  • Working a 4-day week with 1 in 4 Saturdays and no out-of-hours cover

Requirements

They are looking for someone who:

  • Has a few years’ experience and is confident with routine surgeries
  • Genuinely cares about patients, clients, and colleagues
  • Values honesty, clear communication, and teamwork
  • Approaches cases with a proactive and compassionate mindset
  • Is open to relocating if required

Benefits

  • Salary package of £45,000 – £65,000
  • 4-day working week with 1:4 Saturdays, no OOH
  • Relocation package available
  • CPD actively encouraged and supported, including certificates
  • Access to Central CPD on demand and the RCVS Knowledge Library
  • 5.6 weeks’ holiday including bank holidays
  • RCVS and VDS fees paid
  • Private healthcare insurance
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Group Life Insurance (3x salary)

Outside of Work

The local area offers countryside, coastline, and easy access to London, airports, and transport links for trips further afield.
