Job Description

Veterinary Surgeon – Independent Small Animal Practice

Are you a confident and compassionate vet looking for a new challenge, a supportive team, and the chance to shape the future of an established independent practice? Our client has proudly served their community for over 20 years and is known for their friendly, personal approach. Pets and people are cared for as individuals, and that same ethos extends to their team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a vet who shares values of respect, trust, and kindness. You will work alongside experienced colleagues, contribute to the continued growth of the practice, and have the chance to play a leadership role in shaping its future. For the right candidate, there is also potential to explore partnership opportunities.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Provide high-quality veterinary care with 20-minute consultations and allocated admin and call-back time

  • Collaborate with a supportive team of vets, nurses, and client care staff

  • Manage a varied caseload, with trusted referral centres available for complex cases

  • Support and mentor colleagues, contributing to a strong learning culture

  • Take part in a fair Saturday rota (1:4 or 2:4), with no out-of-hours

Requirements

Our client is looking for a vet who:

  • Is confident, compassionate, and an effective communicator

  • Has experience in small animal practice (newer graduates with the right attitude will be supported)

  • Enjoys working collaboratively in a supportive, community-focused environment

  • Brings an interest in surgery, dentistry, or another clinical area (orthopaedics welcomed)

  • Values teamwork, kindness, and long-term career development

Benefits

Our client believes in rewarding their team and promoting a healthy work–life balance. You can expect:

  • Salary of £45,000 – £60,000 (commensurate with experience)

  • Full-time role over just three days a week (8:30 am – 7 pm)

  • Flexible rota options to suit your lifestyle

  • Five weeks’ holiday plus bank holidays

  • No out-of-hours – evenings, Sundays, and bank holidays are yours to enjoy

  • Funded CPD with support for certificates

  • Professional fees paid (RCVS and VDS)

  • Generous employee discount

  • A close-knit, supportive team who enjoy working and socialising together

Why Join Them?

With our client, you will be joining more than a team – you will be joining a family. Many colleagues have been with them for over a decade, a testament to the positive and supportive culture they have built. From birthday celebrations and charity fundraising to relaxed get-togethers outside of work, their team spirit extends well beyond the practice doors.

If you are ready for a role where your voice is heard, your growth is supported, and your work truly makes a difference, our client would love to hear from you.
