Are you looking for a practice where you can grow, feel supported, and deliver exceptional care? Join a friendly, independently owned veterinary team that’s passionate about making a difference. They combine the standards of a modern, forward-thinking hospital with the welcoming feel of a close-knit community practice.

Our client is inviting a dedicated Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to become part of their experienced, multi-disciplinary team. You’ll work alongside Advanced Practitioners, qualified nurses, and support staff who are committed to teamwork, learning, and providing outstanding care. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your clinical skills, contribute to varied and rewarding caseloads, and get involved in innovative projects that drive continuous improvement.

You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality veterinary care and client support. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing excellent medical and surgical care for small animals

  • Collaborating with colleagues to ensure smooth, consistent case management

  • Supporting clinical learning through case discussions and CPD sessions

  • Upholding the highest standards of care and animal welfare

  • Taking part in a shared out-of-hours rota to maintain true case continuity

This is a day role within a well-equipped small animal hospital environment, with opportunities to work across smaller branches for a varied caseload. You’ll work a four-day week with a 1 in 5 weekend rota (with a day off in lieu), and flexible or part-time options are available.

Requirements

Our client would love to hear from you if you are:

  • A qualified MRCVS with some small animal experience (postgraduate experience ideal)

  • Passionate about delivering compassionate, high-quality care

  • Keen to develop your skills with the support of experienced mentors

  • A great communicator and collaborative team player

  • Motivated, proactive, and eager to contribute to a positive team culture

Benefits

Our client believes in supporting their people just as much as their patients. Here’s what they offer:

  • Salary: £35,000–£60,000 DOE

  • Holidays: 31 days (including bank holidays, pro rata)

  • CPD: £2,000–£2,500 + 5 days (pro rata) – certificates encouraged and supported

  • Professional fees: RCVS, VDS, BVA, plus one additional membership paid

  • Health & Wellbeing: Private medical insurance, medical cash plan, and EAP access

  • Financial Benefits: Pension (5% employee, 3% employer), Perkbox rewards and discounts

  • Lifestyle & Perks: Team pet discount, Cycle to Work scheme, and one paid volunteering day per year

  • Workplace Culture: Regular social events, charity initiatives, and a friendly, inclusive team that genuinely enjoys spending time together

Being independently owned means they can make decisions that put their team, patients, and clients first. You’ll be supported by a leadership team that values your input, invests in your growth, and encourages a healthy work–life balance.
