Job Description

Are you an experienced vet ready to explore your clinical interests, develop new skills, and feel genuinely valued at work?

Our client is a fast-growing small animal practice with a dedicated team that includes a highly experienced full-time vet, a supportive practice owner with advanced certificates in surgery and emergency medicine, and a regular locum. With a broad caseload including exotics and advanced soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries, this is an ideal setting to grow professionally.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative clinical and non-clinical team that encourages ongoing development. With access to referrals, mentoring, and modern facilities (dental x-ray, multiparameter monitoring, surgical instrumentation, etc.), there is excellent scope to follow individual clinical interests—whether that’s imaging, cardiology, internal medicine, or exotics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consultations and routine surgical procedures
  • Clinical case management and occasional sole charge
  • Collaboration with a skilled nursing team and visiting specialists
  • Participation in a shared Saturday morning rota (1 in 4)
  • Uphold high standards of patient and client care

Candidate Requirements

  • A qualified and confident Veterinary Surgeon
  • At least 2 years’ experience in small animal practice preferred
  • Interests in medicine, imaging, or exotics welcomed
  • A team player with excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable with sole charge and independent decision-making

Why Join Them?

They offer a healthy work-life balance, with a 4-day working week, no out-of-hours, and structured daily schedules that include protected admin time and a proper lunch break. The last consult is at 6pm, with closing time at 7pm, ensuring vets typically finish between 6:15 and 6:30pm.

Benefits Include:

  • Salary from £45,000–£65,000 DOE
  • 5 weeks’ annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Generous CPD allowance with certificate support
  • RCVS, VDS, and BVA fees paid
  • Paid annual car park pass
  • Life assurance (4x salary)
  • Staff discounts at partner retailers

Whether your passion lies in surgery, medicine, or exotics, this is a fantastic opportunity to thrive in a supportive and forward-thinking practice.
