Job Description

Our client, a leading veterinary care provider, has a unique opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join their dedicated, experienced, and friendly nursing team on a weekend basis. The successful candidate will be involved in various aspects of patient care, including nursing inpatients, conducting nurse clinics, and assisting with ultrasonography, radiography, advanced CT, orthopaedic, and soft tissue surgery.

The successful candidate will join an established and welcoming team, many of whom have been at the practice for over a decade. The team comprises day and night vets, RVNs, student veterinary nurses (SVNs), patient care assistants (PCAs), and client care assistants (CCAs). This practice is also a registered nurse training centre and a graduate vet residency provider. The role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a practice equipped with modern facilities such as a CT scanner, digital x-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, and laser surgery tools, contributing to a wide range of veterinary services.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional care to clients and their pets.
  • Assist with surgeries and procedures, including pre- and post-procedure tasks.
  • Conduct nurse-led appointments and perform Schedule 3 activities.
  • Monitor and care for patients effectively.
  • Manage patient admissions and discharges as directed by the veterinary team.
  • Handle patient transfers to out-of-hours or enhanced care facilities.
  • Dispense and check medications accurately.
  • Maintain professional excellence, adhering to all regulatory, practice, and operational standards.
  • Lead team briefings to ensure the effective running of the practice.

 

Requirements

  • Must be a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RCVS).
  • Proven experience in delivering high-quality patient and client care.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience in supporting nurse consultations and understanding their impact on practice performance and efficiency.
  • Skilled in coaching and influencing colleagues to achieve optimal results.
