Job Description

Our client is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon or Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly and experienced team. This role is based in a practice renowned for its outstanding kindness and compassion towards patients, offering a balanced mix of surgery and consultations. The practice is well-equipped with modern facilities, enabling the team to provide exceptional care.

The successful candidate will join a supportive team, including a Vet, Head Nurse, and Practice Manager, along with a dedicated front-of-house team and part-time nurses. This role offers the opportunity to advance to a Lead Veterinary Surgeon position, facilitating career progression. The practice is equipped with dental and digital x-rays, ultrasound, a full laboratory, kennels, and a theatre, ensuring high-quality care for all patients. This position also offers an excellent work-life balance, with a 1 in 3 Saturday morning shift and no out-of-hours, on-call, or bank holiday duties.

 

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver exceptional clinical care to patients during consultations and procedures.
  • Provide clear and compassionate updates to clients regarding their pets.
  • Uphold professional excellence by adhering to the highest regulatory, practice, and operational standards.
  • Prepare tailored and accurate treatment and care plans with clear cost estimates.
  • Mentor and develop your team, enhancing their skills and effectiveness.
  • Complete clinical handovers and arrange the transfer of patients requiring out-of-hours or enhanced care.
  • Proactively support and share clinical best practices within the practice and across the wider community.

 

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Registration as a Veterinary Surgeon with the RCVS.
  • At least 2+ years of experience (UK or equivalent).
  • Experience in delivering exceptional care to patients and clients.
  • Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to lead and mentor others.
  • Experience in supporting nurse consultations and Schedule 3 procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement a progressive clinical culture.
  • Coaching and influencing skills to bring out the best in colleagues.
