Job Description

Our client, a leading provider of veterinary care, is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join their team at a well-established practice. This is a permanent, full-time position, working 40 hours per week over four days, with 1:4 weekends. Part-time applications are also welcome, and there is flexibility to accommodate individual needs.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join a highly skilled and experienced team in a purpose-built practice featuring multiple consulting rooms, separate dog and cat wards, and modern operating theatres equipped with the latest technology, including ECG, an in-house laboratory, digital x-ray, dental equipment, and ultrasound. The practice handles a busy and varied caseload and is a recognised training centre for nurses and new graduates. The goal is to develop this practice into a dedicated 24-hour centre, providing advanced care and services.

 

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional clinical care to patients during consultations and procedures.
  • Provide outstanding service to clients, including clear communication and updates about patient status.
  • Uphold professional excellence by adhering to the highest standards of regulatory, practice, and operational compliance.
  • Develop tailored treatment and care plans for each patient, including accurate cost estimates.
  • Mentor and develop the team, enhancing their skills and maximising their effectiveness.
  • Conduct clinical handovers and arrange patient transfers for out-of-hours or specialised care when necessary.
  • Proactively support and share clinical best practices within and across practices and the wider community.

 

Requirements

  • Must be a Registered Veterinary Surgeon with the RCVS.
  • Proven experience in delivering exceptional care to both patients and clients.
  • Strong ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrable clinical leadership skills.
  • Experience in fostering a progressive clinical culture.
  • Skilled in supporting nurse consultations and Schedule 3 procedures, with a strong understanding of how this contributes to practice performance and efficiency.
  • Proficiency in coaching and influencing colleagues to achieve the best outcomes.
