Job Description

Join a Supportive Veterinary Team in a Beautiful Island Location

Ready to thrive in a practice where professional development, clinical variety, and a great work-life balance come together with the beauty of island living? They’re looking for an experienced vet to join their friendly mixed practice in an idyllic location.

About the Role

As part of their long-established veterinary practice, you’ll be joining a team with a strong reputation for delivering exceptional veterinary care. You’ll primarily work with small animals (95% of their caseload), with opportunities to get involved in farm animal or equine work if this aligns with your interests. Their partnership with local charities also offers a uniquely rewarding experience with wildlife cases—from puffins to seals.

They’re currently expanding their clinic facilities to add more consultation rooms and theatres, with plans to introduce endoscopy, laparoscopy, and a CT scanner within the next 12 months. You’ll be part of a team that embraces collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation in practice.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing high-quality veterinary care primarily to small animals
  • Having the option to get involved with farm and equine work depending on your interest
  • Assisting with wildlife cases through local charity partnerships
  • Participating in weekly visits to a nearby island (if desired)
  • Engaging in case discussions during daily morning rounds and monthly vet meetings
  • Sharing knowledge and supporting newer team members

What They’re Looking For

  • A qualified and experienced veterinary surgeon (RCVS-registered)
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills
  • An interest in small animal medicine is essential; farm, equine, or wildlife interest is a plus
  • Enthusiasm for continuous learning and contributing to team development
  • Willingness to participate in a light OOH rota (1:5), with nursing team support for inpatients

Why Join Them?

  • Salary starting at £85,000
  • Bi-annual 10% bonus
  • £5,000 relocation support and access to a company car
  • Help with finding accommodation
  • 5 weeks of annual leave plus bank holidays
  • CPD supported and funded, including certificates
  • Career progression opportunities, including the path to Clinical Director
  • Professional fees paid (RCVS, VDS, BVA)
  • Private health insurance
  • Subsidised gym membership
  • Visa sponsorship available
  • Access to in-house training and webinars

Life in the Island Location

Whether it’s surfing, hiking, horse riding, pottery classes, or climbing, there’s something for everyone. The team enjoys regular social events—from island boat trips and barbecues to casual catch-ups that make life here even more rewarding.

If you’re ready for a fulfilling career move where your skills are valued and your life outside of work matters too, they’d love to hear from you.
