Job Description

Our client is a thriving independent veterinary practice with a friendly, dedicated team and ambitious goals for the future. They are looking for a veterinary surgeon with a passion for small animal, equine, or mixed practice to join them. Whether you’re seeking a fresh start or career growth, this opportunity offers both in equal measure.

This role offers the chance to play a key part in the next chapter of the practice’s development, with exciting plans already underway to expand their facilities and services. The successful candidate will be joining a small, experienced team that values collaboration, flexibility, and professional development. For the right person, there are genuine long-term partnership prospects, and your interests will be fully supported – whether clinical, surgical, or leadership focused.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload including consultations, surgeries, and (if preferred) farm or equine visits
  • Deliver high standards of veterinary care across the board
  • Work collaboratively with the team to provide excellent service and patient outcomes
  • Participate in a fair 1:4 weekend rota with minimal, low-volume out-of-hours cover
  • Contribute to the continued growth and innovation of the practice

Requirements

  • Veterinary degree and RCVS registration (or eligibility to register)
  • Postgraduate experience or recent completion of the VetGDP
  • Interest in small animal, mixed, or equine work – flexibility provided based on preference
  • Strong communication skills and a compassionate, team-oriented approach
  • Full driving licence (vehicle provided for work use)
  • Willingness to relocate; visa support available for the right applicant

Benefits

  • Salary range of £34,000 – £65,000, plus out-of-hours bonus (worth up to £8,000 per year)
  • Unlimited CPD budget with certificate support encouraged
  • Paid professional membership subscriptions
  • Relocation package available
  • Company vehicle for work-related travel
  • Flexible rota: 4- or 4.5-day week or part-time considered
  • Last appointment at 5:45 pm, with protected admin time to ensure a 6:30 pm finish
