Job Description

Veterinary Surgeon, Part or Full Time due to expansion

They are the original practice! Their Head Nurse and Practice Manager have been there since it opened in 2002.

An opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly and happy team due to expansion. You, as a Veterinary Surgeon, would be working alongside 4 other vets, including a Certificate holder in Small Animal Surgery, 5 RVNs, a strong reception team, and a practice manager who will make sure you always get lunch!

They pride themselves on their happy, engaged, social team and regularly score 100% on their colleague ‘We Care’ surveys. Their team member’s happiness is their priority, as they believe a happy Veterinary Surgeon is the key to providing outstanding pet healthcare and great customer service. They work with their Veterinary Surgeon team to make their working hours fit in with their life commitments, and as part of their commitment to offering flexibility at work, they have recently achieved accreditation as a gold standard flexible working practice with ‘Flexee’. In addition, they also have a zero-tolerance policy in place for abusive clients, as their Veterinary Surgeon team deserves to feel secure and supported in the workplace.

Their Practice:

They are a Tier 2 RCVS registered practice. In practice, they run a standard 20-minute consult with half an hour allocated for euthanasia, blood tests, skin cases, etc. They are a small practice, which allows great case continuity, and the Veterinary Surgeons have a collaborative approach to difficult cases. Most of their cases, however complex, can be managed in-house by their surgery certificate holder or visiting ultrasonographer and cardiologist. Dedicated phone/admin time is put in the diary daily. Certificates are encouraged and funded.

The Role:

They’re looking for a part-time Veterinary Surgeon, working 20-40 hours a week, with 1 in 3 Saturdays and no OOH or Bank Holidays. They have recently reduced their Saturday opening times to 9 am-1 pm, which is another initiative to help their Veterinary Surgeon staff achieve the best work-life balance. Hours and days could be flexible, and they always give set days off. They are also open to a CONSULT ONLY Veterinary Surgeon joining the team. Salary DOE and pro rata up to £60k. You, as a Veterinary Surgeon, will need to feel comfortable doing sole charge occasionally and will ideally have a medical bias.

Benefits:

As you would expect from the market leader in small animal veterinary care, they offer a supportive working environment together with career development opportunities and an excellent package and benefits that include:

  • Cheerful, friendly team who STAY.
  • Gold Flexee accredited for flexible working options: career progression and work/life balance
  • Salary up to £60K
  • 1 in 3 weekends, Saturday mornings only.
  • Number of hours flexible; 20-40 hours a week.
  • Generous CPD allowance with certificates supported and encouraged for the right Veterinary Surgeon candidate
  • Exclusive company discounts and rewards, including 20% off at Pets at Home.

If you, as a Veterinary Surgeon, share their passion for enjoying work in a happy team while delivering and would like to join their Veterinary Surgeon team, then they would love to hear from you.

They want their Veterinary Surgeon colleagues to be as diverse as their clients. Their Veterinary Surgeon teams are inclusive and celebrate difference, so if you, as a Veterinary Surgeon, meet their role requirements, they’d love to hear from you.

They are an equal opportunities employer.

So, if you have an ambition to be part of the future, please apply.
