Working in Canada isn’t just for vets. At NSV, we’re always thrilled when we can place someone in their dream veterinary nursing across the pond.
Today, we’re sharing the story of Zoe, who’s recently made the leap from the UK to Canada. Read on for a tale of determination, new horizons, and finding the perfect fit in the veterinary world.
Zoe’s journey into the veterinary field is a testament to her lifelong passion for animals. She tells us, “I’ve had pets throughout my childhood, and being an advocate for animals is what inspired me, as well as a genuine medical curiosity.” After completing a diploma in Animal Management at Sparsholt College and an Animal Science degree, Zoe kicked off her career as a receptionist and animal care assistant at an emergency clinic.
But Zoe had bigger dreams brewing. “I have wanted to come to Canada for years,” she shares. “It’s been a dream since I started my training.” When the opportunity arose to work in the Great White North, Zoe jumped at the chance. “It’s an adventure, an opportunity to learn and meet new people, and build a great career,” she explains.
Of course, finding the right role wasn’t without its challenges. Zoe notes, “The biggest challenge I have found is finding a team and environment that I really fit into. It’s well known that job satisfaction and overall wellbeing is one of the biggest issues in the industry. I was determined to find a role I love, where I look forward to going into work and can maintain a healthy work/life balance.”
This is where NSV stepped in. Zoe says, “They understood exactly what I was looking for; a role that suits my experience level, in a supportive team, with a working pattern that promotes the work-life balance I was looking for.” But it wasn’t just about finding any old job. NSV’s experience helped secure a role with an employer who was actively invested in the immigration process – a crucial factor when moving halfway across the world!
Reflecting on her experience with NSV, Zoe is full of praise: “They genuinely care about the clients and roles that they find for them. I was not entirely convinced that securing a role in Canada was possible – thanks to NSV, I’m here now, in a role that I love, with a team where I feel I belong.” She adds, “They listened to my needs, as relocating halfway across the world is no small feat! And they guided me through the process – from interview to visa, they have been so supportive.”
Well, there you have it, folks! Zoe’s story is a prime example of how the right support can help you achieve your veterinary dreams, even if they’re on the other side of the world. At NSV, we’re over the moon to have played a part in Zoe’s journey, and we’re always ready to help more people find their perfect match, whether it’s down the road or across continents.
